Giants sign Zio with a 126M/7years deal

Great job done, Scott Boras.

After beat by Red Sox's GM Theo Epstein on Daisuke Matsuzaka's contract a couple weeks ago, Boras regain his control by dominating Zito's contract negoiation. Giants have to pay 126M to land Barry Zito, 2002 AL Cy Young winner and former Trojan, for 7 years.

You gotta be kidding me.

Signing a pitcher with ERA 3.83/3.86/4.48 over last three years will cost you 18M per year and you need to pay him at this rate through 2014.
Yes, Zito has won Cy Young.
Yes, Zito is a LHP.
Yes, Zito can constantly ptich 220+ innings.
Yes, Zito is only 28.

But we all know that Zito is not the same guy dominating 2002.
His SO/BB ratio goes up, because his SO goes down and BB goes up.
Player's OPS against him goes up to .756/.662/.757. (compared to his career .674)

This offseason is FA's year.
